MRIS cut need for prostate biopsies
More than a quarter of men with suspected prostate cancer could avoid invasive biopsies if they are offered an MRI scan instead, a new study led by University College London has suggested.
Researchers found that if men are offered an MRI scan first, this could reduce the number of individuals who undergo the invasive procedure by 28 per cent.
Experts believe that more than a quarter of the one millionmen who currently undergo a biopsy across Europe every year could“safely avoid it ”.
