Springfield Properties looks to build new homes at Gartcosh

Moray-based Springfield Properties has submitted a detailed planning application for a 42-home development in Gartcosh.

The firm revealed yesterday that it had submitted plans to North Lanarkshire council to transform the two-hectare site adjacent to Mount Ellen Golf Club into a new crescent development.

The scheme will deliver a mix of three-and four-bedroom homes from the company’s Alba range. They will be fitted with electric car charging cables as part of the firm’s recent pledge to future proof its homes.

Springfield chief executive Innes Smith said: “This new development is in a great location. There are handy commuter routes a stone’s throw away, it’s near the Glasgow Fort Shopping Centre and right next door to Mount Ellen golf course.

“The development will introduce new jobs to Gartcosh while supporting local businesses and suppliers. And with plenty of open space throughout the development, bordered with existing wood- land, we are confident our plans will be a positive addition to the area.”

Last month, the housebuilder forecast annual profits would be 5 to 10 per cent above market expectations.

In maiden results as a public company, it announced underlying interim pre-tax profits up just under 20 per cent at £3.1 million from £2.6m a year year. 0 Chief executive Innes Smith: ‘handy commuter routes’
