Mighty Mouse Mclauchlan’s date at the palace

Legendary Scottish rugby player John ‘Ian’ Mclauchlan is all smiles after receiving an OBE at Buckingham Palace. The 75-year-old described it as ‘a fantastic honour.’

Scotland and British Lions rugby legend Ian Mclauchlan is made an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) by Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, during an Investitur­e ceremony at Buckingham Palace yesterday. “Mighty Mouse” won 43 caps for Scotland at loosehead prop and played eight times for the Lions on the 1971 tour to New Zealand and the 1974 trip to South Africa, finishing on the losing side only once.
