For those who don’t wish to delete their Facebook account altogether, there are a number of steps which can be followed to improve privacy.

These include not answering quizzes which seek to find out about personal interests, not “liking” pages linked to companies or corporate interests and not using Facebook to log into other apps.

Users can also go to the settings page and untick information they don’t want the Facebook app to access.
