Norrie and Broady win in Miami

British players Cameron Norrie and Liam Broady have made it through the first round of qualifying at the Miami Open.

Scotland’s Norrie, currently ranked 105 in the world, was 6-1, 2-0 up when his American opponent Stefan Kozlov retired from the match.

World No 169 Broady cruised past Switzerlan­d’s Henri Laaksonen, winning 6-2, 6-4.

In the women’s draw, Katie Boulter also triumphed in the first round of qualifying, beating the USA’S Taylor Townsend 7-6 (7/1), 6-2.

But there was disappoint­ment for Naomi Broady – sister of Liam – who was beaten 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 by Oceane Dodin of France.
