St Johnstone Cruelty to the fans
Television has for a long time ruled the roost on when matches are played. Having booked a few days’ holiday I made sure I would be back for the original Saturday fixture against Hibs. I was not well pleased when it was brought forward to Friday night. Given the poor crowd, clearly the change ruled out a substantial number of supporters. The re-arranged date for the Hamilton game has also upset supporters heading off to watch Scotland.
Those running Scottish football need to have regard to the view expressed by Jock Stein, who said: “Football is nothing without supporters.”
Friday also highlighted managers criticising opponents’ misdemeanours to deflect attention from their own players’ indiscipline. Grow up.
