Dundee Balanced rebuild needed

- Gary Cocker

Rumours that St Johnstone and St Mirren are after Paul Mcgowan in the summer are concerning. He has been the mainstay of our team and his loss would be a big blow, regardless of what league we are in next year.

Our squad situation looks perilous, as only Partick Thistle and Ross County have fewer players under contract for next season. Some of those out of contract in the summer are clearly departing, but we also risk having no goalkeepers as well as losing prospects such as Matthew Henvey and Jesse Curran and first-team regulars such as Jon Aurtenetxe and Mark O’hara. We seem stuck between a rock and a hard place, as our squad is bloated and in need of a balanced rebuild, but also needs some continuity rather than another wholesale set of changes.
