Deadline for entries nears
Builders and property specialists are invited to put forward submissions for the 2018 Scottish Home Awards
Those at the forefront of the housebuilding industry are being encouraged to submit their entries to this year’s Scottish Home Awards.
Businesses have until 28 March to enter submissions to the competition that celebrates the best of the nation’s architects, housebuilders and developers.
The 11th annual awards ceremony will take place at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange on 14 June and will highlight excellence in new home creation.
The awards, sponsored by property company Ross & Liddell, are expected to attract more than 60 housebuilders from across Scotland.
Included in the 18 categories is a new community contribution award that will recognise the efforts of a private builder or housing association to make a significant contribution to a community or charity. Once again, businesses will be vying for the top title of Scotland’s best housebuilder, which was won by Robertson Homes last year.
S1 Developments came out on top in the small housebuilder of the year category.
Andrew Cunningham, director at Ross & Liddell, will be reviewing submissions as part of the judging

“The opportunity to have an active role in the assessment of new homes across Scotland is a privilege and a great pleasure.
“I am looking forward to meeting my fellow judges to reviewing the merits of the various development types, meeting differing needs, in locations throughout the country.”
The 15-strong panel of judges also includes Kirsty Mcluckie, The Scotsman’s property editor, Karen Anderson, chair at Architecture & Design Scotland, Dan Macdonald, chief executive officer of Macdonald Estates, and David Gaffney, chair at Ambassador Group.
KD Media, the organiser of the competition, has launched a new format for written entries which includes a streamlined entry form to make the submission process easier.
There is no fee to enter and the competition is based on a written submission with images, plans, testimonials and credentials. The finalists will be revealed in April.
The awards ceremony supports charity It’s Good 2 Give and the management of the Ripple Retreat, a short-stay holiday home for young cancer patients and their families on the banks of Loch Venachar, in the Trossachs National Park.
