Business leaders pick up gongs at IOD awards

The achievemen­ts of Scotland’s top bosses were honoured last night at the IOD Scotland Director of the Year Awards.

Among the 14 leaders receiving gongs were Martin Armstrong, group chief executive of Wheatley Group, for Director of the Year Large Businesses; Simon Erlanger, managing director of Isle of Harris Distillery, for Director of the Year Medium Size Businesses; and Celine Sinclair, chief executive of The Yard, for Director of the Year Small Businesses.

As well as the main categories, two discretion­ary awards were made – to Sir Timothy O’shea, who picked up the IOD Scotland Chair’s Award, and Chloe Fairman, who collected the Young Enterprise Scotland Award.

David Watt, director of IOD Scotland, said: “These awards celebrate the immensely diverse landscape of businesses across Scotland, and the women and men who lead them.

“Once again, these awards have provided a platform for us to learn about exceptiona­l business success across the board.”
