Banned pesticide found in popular walking area

-

Tests in a popular dogwalking area in the Highlands have confirmed the presence of a banned pesticide after the death of a pet.

Searches began in the area of Faebait Farm, near Muir of Ord, on 15 March after the farm owner’s dog become unwell and later died.

Police said tests had found Aldicarb, a pesticide that has been banned for more than ten years. Officers do not know if the substance was spread deliberately or if someone had used the area to discard it. Walkers are being urged to report any unusual items but not to touch them.
