Armed police have shot a gunman who stormed a supermarket in Trèbes in the south of France. The gunman hijacked a car before taking hostages, with three people killed. @Billneelynbc posted: “#ISIS is not dead yet. At least in the minds of the petty criminals, wannabes & disillusioned of the West. This botched, almost pointless attack may further inspire – copy cat strikes quite possible now.”

Prime Minister Theresa May said European Union leaders were “standing together” over the Salisbury nerve agent attack as the bloc’s ambassador to Moscow was recalled “for consultations”.

TV hosts Ant Mcpartlin and Declan Donnelly have been dropped by car maker Suzuki from an endorsement deal after Ant was charged with drink driving following a crash on Sunday.
