Valverde triumphs in Spain again

CYCLING: Alejandro Valverde claimed his second straight Volta a Catalunya title yesterday after his main rival, Egan Bernal, crashed towards the end of the final stage.

Britain’s Simon Yates was first over the line in Barcelona but the title went to the Movistar rider who finished the stage ninth. Nairo Quintana finished second overall, with Pierre Latour (AG2R La Mondiale) third.
