£400k boost for station cycling upgrades

- By ANGUS HOWARTH

Train stations across Scotland are to become more cyclist-friendly thanks to a £400,000 funding boost.

Senior funds at the Scotrail Alliance said the funds would be part of its ongoing commitment to improving access and facilities for cyclists at stations.

Over the next four years, £100,000 a year will be made available to local councils and community organisations.

This funding will be used to deliver projects which contribute to the Scotrail Alliance’s vision of providing a ‘doorstep to destination’ journey for customers, while reducing congestion and pollution. Improved directions and signage for cyclists, and better connections between stations and services such as schools and town centres are among the initiatives which are set to benefit.
