#AUTISMAWARENESSWEEK

World Autism Awareness Week got underway yesterday, as seven days of fundraising, awareness and storytelling began. @Shasamuels wrote: “When I first found out my son had autism I was worried and upset. But as he got older and I learnt more about autism I realised I’ve got nothing to worry about. He’s funny, smart and charming. I’m lucky I get to be his father.” @Joanne_lake added: “When our son was diagnosed with #autism our world didn’t crumble; it just wobbled. We’ve had our challenges but, 12 years later, we’re the proudest parents of the loveliest, kindest, smartest – and yes, quirkiest – boy. We celebrate difference.”

#DIPLOMATS

The US Government has joined the UK in retaliating against Russia for a poisoning attack in Kent. President Trump expelled dozens of Russian diplomats in the wake of the attack. @Eugenegu claimed: “Trump should have expelled those 60 Russian diplomats when Rex Tillerson recommended a response to the UK spy case. Instead, Trump fired the former Secretary of State in a tweet. Now his position is so weak he has no choice.” @Funder agreed: “Trump didn’t have an option to keep the 60 Russian spies posing as diplomats in the US, but I guarantee he looked for one. He also hasn’t criticised Putin or implemented all of the sanctions Congress passed against Russia. Trump’s a traitor and shouldn’t be president.”

#ANTISEMITISM

Labour’s internal row over antisemitism in their ranks has ratcheted up this weekend as Jewish community leaders held a protest over Jeremy Corbyn’s reaction to the issue. @Robinlustig posted: “Do I think Corbyn is anti-semitic? No. Do I think that in the past he has been wilfully blind to anti-semitism on the Left? Yes. Do I think it matters? Yes, but not as much as his right-wing Press critics would have you believe.” @Chukaummuna said: “If you are incapable of seeing that @Uklabour has a problem with anti-semitism, you really should not be in our party. We are not a personality cult, we are a party that is supposed to stand against hatred and racism. It’s about time we lived up to our values.”
