Drug ‘could wipe out Alzheimer’s’
An over-the-counter painkiller costing just £20 a year may prevent Alzheimer’s disease in what scientists have called a “game changer”.
They say Ibuprofen has the potential to wipe out the debilitating disease.
Ibuprofen dampens inflammation in the brain caused by a build up of rogue proteins that trigger memory loss and confusion.
Lead researcher Dr Patrick Mcgeer, one of the world’s leading neuroscientists, said Alzheimer’s could “disappear”.
