St Mirren Champion performance

No game last Saturday but Saints were left needing 11 points before title dreamland. Dumbarton – who lost in the last minute to Inverness in Saturday’s cup final – were the unfortunate victims of a ruthless 5-0 victory on Tuesday night to narrow it down to eight.

Two Lewis Morgan screamers – both from outside the box, with either foot – opened and closed the scoring. Even with Morgan’s goals, there was no surprise when young Cammy Smith was announced as man of the match. As consistent a player as you could get, he orchestrated the play; running faster and trying harder than anyone else. The game was Jack Ross football at its brilliant best; we played like the champions we’re going to become.
