FEWER EU WORKERS

-

The number of workers from the European Union looking for jobs in the UK has fallen by more than a tenth since the Brexit referendum.

Studies suggest the biggest drop has been among people from Romania, Portugal, Poland, Spain and Greece. Sectors which have been hit by the biggest reduction in job searches from the EU include business management, sales, legal, accounting, finance, building and engineering. Workers from some countries have shown an increased interest in working in the UK, including Sweden, Finland and Germany.

Sinead Bunting, of Monster. co.uk, said: “While no-one knows for sure what kind of deal the UK will get, it seems certain we will end up with controlled movement of EU workers, further restricting the supply of labour.”
