Clan events to be given more than £48,000

Events celebrating Scotland’s clan history are to be given more than £48,000 this year.

The 11 community events taking place across nine council areas will be supported by the cash from the Scottish Clan Event Fund.

The 2018 grants include £5,000 to the Battle of Prestonpans Heritage Trust for a commemoration event planned to take place in East Lothian on 15 September.

From the 16 events funded by almost £48,000 last year, Visitscotland estimates 6 per cent of those attending were international visitors.
