Jaguar reveals 542bhp F-pace SVR
Jaguar has announced a fire-breathing 542bhp version of its best-selling F-pace SUV. As with other SVR models, at the heart of the F-pace is a supercharged 5.0-litre V8, in this case giving the F-pace a 44 per cent power hike to 542bhp. That’s 100bhp more than the Porsche Macan Turbo and gives the F-pace a 0-60mph time of just 4.1 seconds. The chassis has been upgraded and stiffened to give a more controlled, sporting drive, with stiffer springs and anti-roll bars. The drivetrain technology has also been specially calibrated for the SVR, with the all-wheeldrive system, electronic active differential, power steering, gear shift, throttle response and dynamic suspension all adjusted to give a more engaging drive. Aerodynamic enhancements include larger air intakes at the front and side fender vents that lower pressure in the wheelarches, reduce lift and provide additional cooling. In addition, unique wheel arch extensions and lower body mouldings give the SVR a more muscular appearance than the standard car. An exclusive SVR bonnet features vents to help extract hot air from the engine bay. At the rear, a unique spoiler is joined by a new bumper housing the quad tailpipes of the active exhaust system. Inside, slimline sports seats with unique upholstery and SVR branding mark the flagship F-pace apart and in place of the traditional rotary gear selector it gets a pistol-grip “sport shift selector”. The F-pace SVR goes on sale this summer, priced from £74,835 and is likely to give a further boost to what is already Jaguar’s fastest-selling car ever.
