A cunning plan?

-

Ever mindful of the dangers of motorists breaking the speed limits, the Scottish Government is intent on introducing measures to force motorists to reduce their speeds.

One could almost be forgiven for thinking that the government “think tank” has come up with a cunning plan worthy of Private Baldrick himself – don’t repair potholes! The more potholes there are, the more slowly motorists will drive and the more attention they will pay to the road ahead. Speed bumps are costly to install but potholes cost nothing!

Another plan with a similar aim is already in operation. Edinburgh residents will have been aware that police vehicles now have the sign POILEAS along with POLICE on their bonnets.

Clearly this is aimed at the potential speeders among the .0001 per cent of Gaelic speakers in the capital who can’t read English.

In this way they will be aware there is a police car in their vicinity and will check their speed accordingly.
