#CARRESTRICTIONS
Motorists in Edinburgh are facing a raft of new restrictions in the city centre in the next few years under a move to give more space to pedestrians and cyclists. @nigelbagshaw said: “I hope this is the beginning of the end of car dominance in the city.” @D_o_reid commented: “There has to be a way to make the city a better ‘place’ given its history potential. Has to come with some innovation around mobility and connectivity.” @_j_a_campbell wrote: “Sorry to be a broken record on this but dealing with the frankly appalling state of the roads would make my cycle to work much safe than any number of cycle lanes or fancy traffic lights.” @grahamgrayy added: “Try removing the 20 zones, then traffic can move. None of the traffic lights now work as they should due to the slower speeds.”
#DECLANDONNELLY
All eyes were on Dec Donnelly as he presented ITV’S Saturday Night Takeaway without his co-host Ant Mcpartlin for the first time in the show’s history. Ant’s absence followed a drink-drinking charge earlier this month. @ellijanelittle said: “I honestly applaud Dec for doing @itvtakeaway on his own after years of having someone next to him. It must be so daunting.” @annalouisedeery wrote: “The whole country is one proud mum right now. Well done Dec.” @noelvineradio added: “This is a pro at work. Forget whether he’s a celebrity or not. Dec is a fantastic presenter who knows his craft inside out.” @LJDEE commented: “Declan Donnelly. Take a bow son.”
#JOSHUAPARKER
Anthony Joshua became a three-belt world heavyweight boxing champion after defeating New Zealand’s Joseph Parker by unanimous decision. However, many eyes were on the referee during the fight, with some fans unhappy with his calls. @justinfitter said: “That was boring. After all the fuss over a neutral referee he just got in the way.” @paulsinha commented: “In his ability to prevent a fight breaking out, that referee was in the wrong part of Cardiff.” @gailemms wrote: “I let my boys fight longer than the ref let #Joshuaparker fight.”
