Egg on face
May I congratulate Andrew Scott in BBC2’S Hamlet on Easter Saturday for the worst performance of the title role quite possibly in recorded history. His stumbling nunnery scene soliloquy (“To be or not to be...”) was reminiscent of a struggling schoolchild forced to read aloud in English class. The rest of it gave the appearance he thought they were performing Beckett’s Waiting For Godot instead.
BBC2’S Hamlet more resembled an omelette.
