A Scottish software testing firm which employs more than 250 people has been bought by an industry rival.

Edge Testing Solutions, which is based in Bellshill and also has offices in Birmingham and London, has been acquired by Eurofins Digital Testing, part of the Belgium-based Eurofins Group which employs 35,000 people globally.

Eurofins said it would retain the existing offices and staff of Edge which was co-founded in 2007 by chief executive Brian Ferrie and has grown to become one of the largest independent software testing companies in Europe.

Ferrie said: “This is an exciting opportunity for our staff and our customers as we look to embark upon our next stage of growth.”

No figure has been disclosed for the acquisition deal.

The Eurofins Group provides testing and analytical services from a network of more than 400 laboratories across 42 countries. The group had sales of just under $3 billion (£2.1bn) in 2016.
