USP Seaside setting

Crail, like the other East Neuk destination, has many attractions of a traditional fishing village. The Fife location is famed for its quaint fishermen’s cottages which surround the harbour.

But head just a little inland and there are more substantial offerings on the market, including beautiful Georgian townhouses at prices to make an Edinburgh dweller weep with jealousy.

No38 Marketgate South is a charming B-listed terraced house with a handsome Georgian facade.

The accommodation, spread over three floors, includes a light and bright breakfasting kitchen, a dining room and sitting room, and a family room and sun-room along with three bedrooms.

The house retains lots of period features such as traditional fireplaces and deep windows with window seats.

It is thought to date from 1759 and sits in a conservation area in this popular part of Fife, which is a magnet for tourists.

The house is close to the sea and has sea views from the upper windows, which look out over the rooftops and gardens of this pretty village.

The house’s garden at the back is another high point, with a lovely mix of wild flowers.

While it would make a good holiday home, it would be tempting to live here all year round.
