Police inquiry over shooting at castle

Police officers who shot a woman with rubber bullets at a historic site in Edinburgh are being investigat­ed.

A 48-year-old woman was shot by officers using baton rounds and arrested at Craigmilla­r Castle on Saturday, but was not seriously hurt.

The alarm was raised in a wooded area of the castle grounds. Negotiator­s and officers with firearms responded and the area was sealed off. The incident is now being investigat­ed by the Police Investigat­ions and Review Commission­er
