Sharp exit
UK seafood firm Young’s announcement of the closure of its Scottish company in Annan and transfer of its
operation to Grimsby should come as no surprise. It is not the first to take this action and it won’t be the last.
All firms regularly examine their structure and given the tax regimes covering business rates, property transaction taxes and income tax brought in by the SNP, all of which compare unfavourably with the rest of the UK , and the continuing uncertainty about another independence referendum, there will very likely be more such announcements to come.
