Lee Lozano
Lee Lozano rejected the art world and so inevitably it forgot her. Now, nearly 20 years after her death, her reputation has been revived, or perhaps ironically the art world has reclaimed her in spite of her objections. For her, the Sixties was a vividly creative decade. Some of her work was fierce and angry, some cool and poised. Then she made her withdrawal from the art world into a kind of private performance art. Her fascinating if rather sad story is told in Slip, Slide, Splice.
