One in ten set to lose their jobs as fish plant closes
One in ten workers in the Dumfriesshire town of Annan will lose their jobs with the closure of the Pinney’s fish processing plant.
Parent company Young’s Seafood announced last Tuesday that the factory would close and production would be moved to Grimsby, Lincolnshire.
Thecompany,whichsupplies Marks & Spencer, confirmed on Saturday that 427 permanent jobs would go, as well as up to 150 seasonal agency roles. The town has a workingage population of 5,247.
Politicians yesterday called on Marks & Spencer to help halt the closure.
