-

Sotheby’s employees move a painting titled Femme, by Spanish artist Joan Miro, as masterwork highlights of the auction house’s flagship sales in New York are unveiled in London.

The painting, which has an estimated value of £7 million to £10m, is part of an extraordinary collection of works spanning many of the most important artistic movements of the 20th century.

The sale is expected to raise a total of $75 million (about £53m) for charity. Works by Picasso, Monet, de Kooning, O’keeffe, Rothko, Basquiat and Lichtenstein will also feature in the sale.
