Scottish Equity Partners managing partner to chair BVCA
Calum Paterson, the managing partner of Scottish Equity Partners (SEP), has been appointed chairman of the body representing the private equity and venture capital industry in the UK.
He will serve as chair of the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (BVCA) for 2018/19, confirmed yesterday.
The BVCA has more than 700 member firms, including around 300 fund managers and 120 institutional investors.
Paterson has worked in private equity and venture capital since 1991. He was co-founder of SEP in 2000 and has been responsible for managing the firm since then. Glasgowbased SEP has grown into one

Paterson said: “I am very pleased to take on the role of BVCA chair, particularly at this important time for the industry and for the UK economy.

Private equity and venture capital plays a vital role in the UK, not least in terms of supporting the growth of innovative companies. I look forward to supporting the BVCA in representing and promoting the entire industry, across the whole country.”
