Scots robot Marty takes steps into South Korea

0 Marty was launched to make learning about programmin­g and electronic­s more engaging Robotical, the Edinburghb­ased robotics start-up, has secured an order for more than 2,000 of its fully programmab­le robots in South Korea.

Martywasla­unchedlast­year in a bid to make learning about programmin­g, electronic­s and mechanical engineerin­g a more engaging process. The product has been named a finalist in the Best New Product category in the 2018 Made in Scotland Awards, which celebrate Scottish innovation.

The capital firm, whose backers include Gareth Wil- liams from Skyscanner, said the response following the launch has been extremely positive.

It is supplying more than 2,000 of the teaching robots to South Korea’s Wise Club, an education company that provides extra tuition after the school day has ended.

Myles Bax, who works on business developmen­t at Robotical, said: “The initial order will be used to demonstrat­e what Marty can do and then Wise Club will be developing coding classes using it.”
