- By SCOTT REID

Engineering, environment and design consultancy Sweco has expanded its presence in Edinburgh in a move that is likely to pave the way for new jobs.

The firm, which currently employs 165 people in the city across transportation, energy, environment, water and asset management, has relocated to a 14,000 square foot office at Fountainbridge. The new premises will provide the company with the capacity to increase the number of staff employed in the capital to nearly 200.

Sweco was recently appointed to lead the £113 million Cross Tay Link Road project on the outskirts of Perth, and continues to deliver work for the new Edinburgh St James development. It is also handling the route option development work for the upgrade of the A96 between Hardmuir and Fochabers.

Following the completion of a number of major transportation projects, which include the Queensferry Crossing, the firm says it plans to boost market share for other service lines in the region.
