Village pub to be revived with Lottery funding

-

A village pub in central Scotland will get a £740,000 cash boost from the National Lottery to turn it into a community hub.

A community group in Banton, near Kilsyth, had been awarded the funding for a major renovation of the Swan Inn.

The bar had been threatened with closure last year.

The investment comes after the People United for Banton (PUB) campaign bought the pub.

PUB secretary Catherine Moneypenny said the Swan Inn could be “the community hub we all want and need”.
