Foul play is ruled out on Water of Leith body
Detectives investigating the death of a man found in the Water of Leith have ruled out foul play.
Police Scotland have said they still do not know how the 56-year-old died, with the discovery being treated as “unexplained but not suspicious”.
A major operation was launched last week, with officers closing off streets and paths around the popular Glenogle Road area.
Forensic teams and specialist officers donned protective and waterproof gear after the alarm was raised about 7:20am on Thursday last week.
The man’s body was recovered from the river and stretchered to a waiting private ambulance. His identity has so far not been released.
Police said a report would be going to the procurator fiscal’s office in relation to the incident.
