Power grab?

-

Nicola Sturgeon is under renewed pressure over her visit to China after it emerged her government took control of proposals for a Chinese-owned power station in Scotland the day before the First Minister met with its parent company in Beijing.

As a strong devolutionist, I am sad to say I am coming round to the view that the UK should take the Scottish Parliament by the scruff of its neck and tell it to get out of foreign affairs and concentrate on running Scotland.

Michael Stensh-brown

Was that the former power station at Cockenzie that had to close because Westminster were dictating the feed in tariffs payable to the grid? Tariffs that are expensive in Scotland but cheaper in the SE of England...

Finn Mccolgan

But the reverse is true for the distribution network from station to end consumer, as you know very well. The greater the distance, the cheaper it becomes.

Paul Holyrood

SNP power grab over East Lothian council. Practice what you preach, and expect it back tenfold then.

Gavin Beattie

Under the Devolution settlement what powers has either the Welsh or Scottish FM to sign contracts of this magnitude. Any experts on this ?

Bea Sutherland

She isn’t, and wont be, signing any contract. It’s the planning process being operated properly for a project of national significance.
