Barbed comments: Armenians protest over ex-president’s power play

An opposition leader and several dozen other protesters were injured in Armenia as thousands of people rallied against a move by the exw-president to maintain a hold on power.

Police used tear gas and stun grenades against anti-government protesters who attempted to break through a barbed wire cordon in the centre of the capital Yerevan in an effort to get to the parliament building during rallies against former president Serzh Sargsyan, who is expected to be approved as a prime minister with weakened powers this week.
