Doubts Remain

-

UK politics is failing because of “passive and fearful” opposition to leaving the EU. Kirsty Hughes, director of the Scottish Centre on European Relations, said the UK was heading for a “damaging” hard Brexit because Remain voters had been left with little strong representation. Never in the history of voting, have we ever voted, counted the ballots and then decided if the votes cast were worth it. Democracy doesn’t work like that, we vote, and the majority rules decision is final, it isn’t questioned or challenged.

Med1a One Accepting the result is not the same thing as blindly agreeing with it. In fact, it’s only democratic that we’re allowed to disagree with it. The referendum may have been won, but you’ve still to convince half the country that Brexit is still worth it.

Max Bennie I didn’t ask for the referendum but I tried my best to understand all the issues as far as they were available to me and voted Remain mostly on the basis that I was aware of the balance of the benefits of EU membership against the downsides. Now I want to have a referendum on the final deal so that I have the opportunity to make a more informed decision

Remain UK Surely the biggest challenge, and the danger of a damaging Brexit, is that we are not all pulling together to sort out a decent deal with the EU, the remainers lost, therefore we now have to be united when dealing with the EU, instead of faffing about and feeding the false hope that there is any likelihood of another referendum.

Road to Perdition 29 March 2019. Not so long now, will the remoaners finally shut up then?

Common Sensei We’ll shut up when the £350m per week for the NHS materialises.
