Clear image of future for ultrasound business

- By MARTIN FLANAGAN

The first spin-out company set to emerge from the University of the West of Scotland has closed its seed investment round, raising £1.5 million.

Novosound, the winner of the 2017 Converge Challenge, has developed and patented a groundbreaking technique to massmanufacture printable ultrasound sensors.

“The revolutionary method overcomes the limitations of existing technology, improving a manufacturing process that hasn’t majorly changed in more than 40 years,” Novosound said yesterday.

Par Equity, the Edinburgh-based venture capital firm with a track record in early stage investment, is the lead investor with Kelvin Capital co-investing.
