Poor Alistair Mcewen (Letters, 16 April). Despite his complaints, the British Broadcasting Corporation continues to broadcast news from across the UK in its national bulletins.

I have a suggestion for him. Since it is obviously painful for him to hear news from south of the Tweed, at 6pm he should turn to STV for the Scottish news on that channel, then at 6.30pm he can turn back to BBC1 for Reporting Scotland.

And if he’s still desperate to avoid hearing anything from England he should spend all day listening to BBC Scotland or one of the many Scottishbased local radio stations. Meanwhile, we Scots and Brits who do not suffer from anglophobia and who want to know what goes on across our United Kingdom can continue watching the UK news on the BBC at 6pm and STV at 6.30pm.
