Aguero may not be fully fit for cup start
Sergio Aguero will not be fully fit for the start of the World Cup in Russia after undergoing keyhole surgery on his left knee, according to the doctor of Argentina’s football federation.
The Manchester City striker had the operation yesterday and the Premier League champions said he would likely miss the rest of the season.
Homero D’agostino, the AFA doctor, added that Aguero’s recovery “should take at least five weeks” and that the striker’s condition was “worrisome”.
Meanwhile, Brazil international Neymar hopes to be fit for the World Cup.
The PSG forward needed surgery on a broken metatarsal bone after being injured in a league game on 25 February.
Brazil play their opening fixture against Switzerland on 17 June, a month after his expected return.
“I hope to get there in great shape,” said the 26-year-old.
