Presently, wind is providing about 7 per cent of UK electricit­y needs, whilst nuclear and gas provide the bulk. Occasional­ly, wind may supply 30 per cent when demand is low and winds across the entire UK are strong. When you look at it like that, onshore wind is not so favourable. Offshore wind with its better capacity factor is actually a more viable idea. Even that suffers brownouts though.
