PM committed to Windrush payout
Theresa May has caved in to demands to pay compensation to victims of the Windrush generation deportation scandal. The Prime Minister made the commitment in her closing speech yesterday of the Commonwealth Summit, which has been overshadowed by the ongoing furore.
Mrs May said: “On Tuesday, I met with Caribbean leaders where I gave an absolute commitment that the UK government will do whatever it takes, including where appropriate payment of compensation, to resolve the anxieties.”
