City urged to grasp Brexit ‘opportunity’
The UK government will do all it can to protect the “global pre-eminence” of the City of London after Britain leaves the EU, International Trade Secretary Liam Fox has said.
In a speech to City figures, Dr Fox – one of the Cabinet’s most enthusiastic Brexiteers – accepted many in the financial sector would have preferred to have remained in Europe.
However, at London’s Guildhall, he said there would be no going back and he urged them to take advantage of opportunities that would open up outside the EU.
