Ferry route sunk

-

The freight ferry service from Rosyth to Zeebrugge has been closed after operators said they had lost hope of turning round the loss-making route. Scotland is becoming cut off from the rest of the world as ferry routes close and airlines withdraw services. Meanwhile, all the Scottish Government Regional Assembly can do is bleat on about the so-called Rape Clause and Gaelic dictionaries.

miniso I find it incomprehensible that there is no viable freight and passenger service to mainland Europe from Scotland’s eastern seaboard.

Arch Stainton When something like this happens it is always a opportunity to start something new in replacing the loss. In a larger country with hundreds of millions people there is always somebody ready to try. Big Eck The route lost money but not as much as Prestwick Airport, which continues to cost the taxpayer money.

No enemies I am sure this route will be busier than ever after we become an independent nation.

honeysuckle Yes, it was an excellent service; unfortunately only a few ever used it. Not enough passengers or freight to make it pay, caravans to the continent were the biggest earner. Haulage firms would rather drive down to Dover and the cost for that actually exceeded the ferry fare.
