Stage is not too big for bargain buy Robertson

- By MOIRA GORDON

When Mo Salah put pen to paper in the summer, his signature cost Liverpool around £35 million. Few would grudge a penny of that price but, while the Eygptian rightly hogs the limelight, a less costly contribution made by another summer signing has not gone unnoticed.

In the build-up to last night’s mauling of Roma, one fan took to Twitter to highlight his prescience, having predicted that Andy Robertson would prove to be Liverpool’s best signing this season. “I was nearly right lol”. Playing second fiddle to the PFA Player of the Year is nothing to be ashamed of, though.

Another Liverpool fan simply stated that any fans who were having a bad day or feeling sad should remember that their club had paid only £8m for the full-back.

Scots have been integral in past Liverpool glories, showing guts, guile and netting goals and, having broken into the top tier, Robertson, pictured, proved himself the latest player capable of holding his own amongst Europe’s elite.
