Appeal after wooden park bench set on fire

A wooden park bench was deliberately set on fire and destroyed, police said yesterday.

The fire, between 8:30pm and 9pm on Friday in Wards Road, Brechin, threatened to spread to nearby trees but was extinguished before it could take hold any further.

The cost of the bench and the damage to the area is estimated to be around £1,000.

Police are appealing for information.
