Dundee United Magical memory

-

Watching Roma completely demolished by a rampantliverpoolthisweektookmebackmore than 30 years to a magical night at Tannadice.

On 11 April 1984 the reigning Italian champions arrived in Dundee for the first leg of a European Cup semi-final. They fully expected to cruise past their Scottish opponents and even with their Brazilian superstar Falcão injured they still oozed class. They left having been skelped two-nil, a deficit they would require the help of the match referee to overcome in the second leg. I was at Tannadice that night wearing a plaster cast having broken my arm a few weeks earlier. The performance was one that, in my view, United have never bettered. I only wish I had appreciated it more at the time.
