USP On the seashore

-

The Seashell is a spectacular oneroomed cottage on the Ardnamurchan peninsula available as a holiday let.

Completely secluded on the side of a hill overlooking Loch Sunart in one of Britain’s last great wildernesses, this eco-friendly, curved house, inspired by a shell, is made of glass, timber and stone with a sloping turf roof to blend into the landscape.

Designed by Kearney Donald Partnership in Fort William, the cottage, which sleeps two, has beautiful features inside too, such as the handmade curved doors.

There is an elevated double spa bath and a circular open fireplace. With the beamed fan-shaped wooden ceiling, heated ceramic tiled floors and state-of-the art lighting, the Seashell must be one of the most romantic hideaways in Scotland.

Sue Bourne, the manager of Cottages & Castles, says: “The Seashell is a very special luxury haven enjoying stunning views across the little tidal island of Eilean Mòr and over Loch Sunart to the mountains and glens beyond.”

Seals, dolphins and even the occasional basking shark have been spotted on the loch.

Ardnamurchan, with its glorious sunsets and star-filled skies, has white sandy beaches and ancient woodland and makes for a great place to explore on the doorstep.
