Morton A Saturday to forget

-

Saturday was a day to forget for all those associated with Greenock Morton. Not only were our fiercest rivals lifting the Championship trophy, but we were the team they faced prior to lifting it.

A second-half strike by Gourock-born Lewis Morgan secured Saints’ first victory over Morton this season, putting the icing on the cake to their remarkable season.

The defeat in Paisley has left Morton in sixth place, one point clear of Queen of the South in seventh; quite the fall for a team who, only a few months ago, looked certain to secure their second play-off place in a row.

A huge summer lies ahead for Jim Duffy, who will be hoping for a better campaign next time.
