THE NOMINEES

PREMIERSHIP PLAYER OF YEAR

Kris Boyd (Kilmarnock) Few would have picked the veteran striker out at the start of the season but he has bagged 21 goals so far and, with 16 of them while on league duty, he is currently the Premiership’s top scorer. Scott Brown (Celtic) The 2008-09 winner, Celtic’s midfield maestro is favourite to land the award. Brown has been instrumental in taking his team to the brink of a double treble. James Forrest (Celtic) Forrest, too, has shone for Celtic. The winger has faded a little recently but is still keeping Patrick Roberts and Charly Musonda out of the team. John Mcginn (Hibernian) The midfield driving force behind Hibs’ fine campaign, Mcginn has also pitched in with goals. He is a man in demand.

YOUNG PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Scott Mckenna (Aberdeen) Only got his chance at the heart of the Dons defence in September and hasn’t looked back. The 21-year-old also now has two Scotland caps and a 40-yard wonder goal to his name. Alfredo Morelos (Rangers) The 21-year-old Colombian striker has impressed in his first season at Ibrox. Sure, he has missed some sitters along the way, but has still scored 18 to date. Lewis Morgan (St Mirren) By far the standout in St Mirren’s Championship-winning campaign, midfielder Morgan, also 21, was so good that Celtic came calling in January. Kieran Tierney (Celtic) The full-back, 20, is so consistent – does he ever have a bad game? – and has been key to Celtic’s success.
